You might know Khalda as the 26-year-old founder behind Chocberry, the farm-to-table chocolate-dipped strawberry concept that went from a single cart at Echo Beach to four branches in under a year. But before the viral TikToks and the Sanur opening, she spent years working as marketing manager at nüde, learning the craft of branding and hospitality from the ground up.
She knows this neighbourhood the way only a local can. Here's how she'd spend a day in it.
nüde cafe
"The ambience, the staff, they're really friendly. Whenever I leave nüde, my mood is always lifted."
Khalda's morning always starts here, and the connection runs deeper than habit, nüde is where she worked for years, and where she found the mentor who inspired her to eventually start Chocberry. The café now has three locations across Canggu, but the Pererenan outpost has earned a loyal following of its own, known for its relaxed atmosphere and a menu that spans everything from truffle scrambled eggs to banana pancakes. Great atmosphere, warm staff, and the kind of breakfast that sets the tone for a genuinely good day.
The Ark Social Recovery Club
"I love the architecture there."
A recovery session at The Ark follows breakfast. The Scandinavian-inspired space takes guests through a full thermal circuit, pine-wood sauna, signature steam dome, cold plunge, hot tub, and an outdoor pool, all designed as a self-guided, adults-only experience. Khalda's mention of the architecture is telling; this isn't just a wellness stop.
Openhouse Cafe
"Really affordable, big portions, the quality is great. I think everyone in Pererenan knows Openhouse."
Khalda's lunch pick has become a genuine neighbourhood institution. Running an all-day menu from 6am to 10pm, the build-your-own bowl format is simple in concept but consistently well-executed, with generous portions and an easy, communal energy that keeps the whole neighbourhood coming back. There's a reason everybody knows it.
MIYO
"They just opened, only one month, but they're already pretty successful. I love their toppings."
A quick post-lunch stop that's well worth adding to the itinerary. MIYO does one thing, self-serve premium frozen yogurt made fresh daily from real Greek yogurt, and does it well. They also offer a coconut-based vegan version for those who need it. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 3pm, the toppings bar seals the deal.
Magali Pascal
"They have pretty dresses. Whenever I go there, I really want to buy everything."
Pererenan is good territory for a slow afternoon wander, and Magali Pascal is Khalda's favourite stop. Founded in 2005 by Paris-born designer Magali Pascal, the label has grown into one of Bali's most recognisable fashion names, silk dresses, resort pieces, and effortless French femininity with a tropical edge. The kind of boutique that makes browsing genuinely dangerous for your wallet.
Origen
"I saw their salsa night, their Latina night. The owners are such a lovely couple. I really want to check it out."
Khalda's dinner recommendation is, refreshingly, somewhere she hasn't been yet, but keeps thinking about. Founded by Mexican couple Alvaro Rosales Machado and Casandra Escamilla Frutos, Origen brings traditional Mexican cooking and handmade corn tortillas to Pererenan, with a mezcal bar upstairs and a regular programme of Latin nights that's clearly made an impression from the outside. The kind of place that builds anticipation before you've even walked through the door.
